![]() Easter Ideas and Activities Plastic Eggs Place Value Sort: Have baskets labeled ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. Write a 4 digit number on each egg, and underline one digit. Students then put them in the right basket. Easter Egg Hunt: Hide eggs around the room (each egg has a math problem in them). Divide students up into teams. Each team hunts for the eggs and solves them the problem as a team. Then they search for another egg. The team who answers the most problems correctly wins. Match Up: Write compound words on the plastic egg. (one word on each part) Students then match the eggs to create compound words. Variations: making words (rimes on one half; onsets on the other half, math facts, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, contractions Estimation: Have students estimate how many paperclips one empty or filled egg would weigh. How many paperclips would weigh the same as a given number of eggs. Mystery Eggs: Have students pretend they have just found a plastic egg that they were unable to open. What could be inside this plastic egg? Have students write how they were able to open it. (I have my students give at least 2 attempts that fail.)
