Journey Through the Water Cycle (Source unknown)

Water Cycle Bracelet

Make a bracelet for the students to remember the water cycle.

Light blue = rain

Dark blue = oceans, streams, lakes

Yellow = sun

Green = plants, trees & grass that use water

Clear = evaporation

White = clouds forming

When you tie the bracelet it makes a water cycle.

Each child will need a piece of gimp or string or pipe cleaner and six beads-light blue for rain, green for grass, dark blue for a puddle, yellow for the sun, clear for evaporation and white for a cloud.
Story: One day the rain started to come down from the sky. It landed on the grass. The raindrops made a puddle. The sun came out and warmed up the puddle. The droplets evaporated and went into the sky. so many raindrops got together that they make a cloud. Then the rain fell from the cloud. It landed on the grass. The children move the beads as the story is told.

Water Cycle Assessment

Using a 12 x 18 blue construction paper as the background students cut out and glues a landform from green paper on bottom of the paper going halfway across.  Then draw ocean waves with chalk on the other side on the bottom.  They cut out a sun and glue for evaporation.  Pull apart cotton balls to glue for clouds and drops of glitter glue for rain.  Use chalk to draw evaporation lines going up from the water to the clouds.  Finally cut out labels that say “The Water Cycle”, “evaporation”, “precipitation” and “condensation”.    Another day write about the water cycle process and display the writing and picture together.
